Of all the 285 million currently operational vehicles in the U.S., the percentage of pickup trucks is a whopping 20 percent! One of the most well-known names in the market of pickup trucks is, undoubtedly, the Chevy Silverado. Synonymous with pride, elegance, comfort, and independence, the Silverado is the crème de la crème of pickup trucks. However, no amount of pride or elegance can prevent a rock, branch, or debris from causing unexpected damage to the auto glass.
A chip or crack on a windshield is an incredible inconvenience, not to mention that it’s highly dangerous to drive around with a windshield that might shatter at any moment. The responsible thing to do is to replace it at your earliest convenience.
Before heading to the nearest auto shop, I will answer the burning question of how much it will cost you to replace the windshield of your Chevy Silverado. On average, around $300. However, there are other things to consider, such as auto shop location and Silverado production year.
Below you will find the results of my research. What did I do? I called auto shops in various states to request a windshield replacement quote for different Silverado models. I hope those numbers will help you get a better understanding of what determines the price and how much you have to set aside for the service. Let’s go!

Windshield Replacement Cost – Factors
Replacing a windshield is often not as straightforward as you might think, especially when we talk about the Chevy Silverado. Newer models have sophisticated technology incorporated into the windshield, such as LDW, Auto-dimming Mirror, etc. Such technology requires expert precision and proper calibration when installing a new windshield. In turn, this increases the replacement cost.
In addition to technology, other factors can impact the final windshield replacement price of your Silverado. Here are just a few to give you an idea.
- Model Year: Silverado has a much subtler price difference, unlike other pickup trucks where windshield replacement cost varies significantly with the model year. Still, you can expect a lower price for older models of Silverado.
- Location: Depending on the location of the auto repair shop, the replacement price also varies. According to my research, Southeastern states generally charge more for a car windshield replacement.
- Labor Costs: The labor costs also vary depending on the auto shop location. The type of appointment (mobile or repair shop visit) usually determines the labor costs.
Chevy Silverado Windshield Replacement Cost
Let’s get straight to it. On average, it will cost you around $300 to replace the windshield of your Chevy Silverado.
There are three types of glass (Shaded, Green Tint, and Deep Tint) you can choose from when replacing your windshield. Extra accessories include windshield seals, adhesives, etc.
The price will gradually rise if you want additional features installed in your Silverado like HUD, parking assistance systems, etc. Following are some windshield replacement costs for Chevy Silverado for different auto shops across the U.S. Keep in mind that labor costs are not included in the prices auto shops provided me with, so I suspect you have to set aside an additional $200, at least, for that.
2018 – 2020 Chevy Silverado
The average price of windshield replacement for the 2018-2020 Silverado is around $340.
Chevy is currently producing their fourth generation Silverado which increased significantly in size. A better exterior and bulky body also mean a sturdier windshield.

2014 – 2017 Chevy Silverado

The third generation Chevy Silverado mainly focuses on interior comfort rather than exterior sturdiness. However, to improve the driving experience, different driving assistance technologies were added to the third generation models, and that slightly affects the windshield price. Ultimately, however, the average price is lower than newer models.

It was pretty interesting to discover that there’s barely a $100 difference in windshield replacement costs for the first generation Silverado vs. the latest generations. Trust me, I’ve done this research for various car models, and there’s rarely such a small gap.
Still, keep in mind the factors we discussed earlier. I hope my research helped you understand the big picture and helped you prepare your budget.
