Jeep Wrangler Windshield Replacement Cost

If you are a Jeep Wrangler owner, chances are you are a fan of off-roading. As thrilling as it is to drive on natural terrain, don’t forget about all the sand, gravel, mud, snow, rocks, and other materials that can easily cause damage to your Wrangler. Not to mention how easily one of those flying rocks can penetrate your windshield.

Should a stray rock or debris create cracks over six inches long, you must know that the situation is unfixable, and there’s no other choice but to replace your windshield. It’s annoying, I know, but safety first, remember?

I’m going to go ahead and assume that since you’ve landed on this page, you have little to no idea how much money to set aside for this annoying yet highly recommended thing to do – replacing your windshield. I did a little bit of digging on windshield replacement costs all over the US and came up with the following data. I called auto shops in various locations to see if there’s a considerable price difference between states and auto shops. Turns out, there might be. Of course, the price also depends on what year your Jeep Wrangler was released. There are other factors so let’s just go straight to it!

Windshield Replacement Cost – Factors

As different vehicles have different characteristics, the windshield replacement cost of cars is also very much different. Modern cars have various safety and technological features like Blind Spot Monitoring, Lane Departure Warning, Automatic Emergency Braking, etc., built into the windshield. It is likely that to replace your windshield, these sensors also need to be replaced and calibrated.

With new and advanced technology, the windshield replacement becomes more intricate. Henceforth, more recent models have a higher windshield replacement cost. Other principal factors determining the windshield replacement cost are:

  • OEM vs. Aftermarket Windshield: OEM windshield replacement restores your vehicle’s windshield to the original production condition. Aftermarket windshield replacement uses cheaper materials, but they are more viable and cost-effective.
  • Auto Shop Location: The price for replacing your windshield depends on the location. Sometimes, there’s a significant difference between states when it comes to this type of service. So, keep that in mind if severe windshield damage occurs while visiting a friend in another state and your car needs an instant windshield replacement.
  • Windshield Replacement Appointment Type: Your vehicle’s windshield can get damaged anywhere and anytime while you’re on the road. So, you can opt for a shop visit or mobile windshield installation. The price difference depends on the type of appointment you choose.
  • Insurance Coverage: Depending on the damage to the windshield and the insurance coverage type, your windshield replacement cost may also vary.
  • Windshield Type: If you want a tinted windshield or a tempered windshield for extra security, you have to pay extra money as luxurious options generally increase the price.

Jeep Wrangler Windshield Replacement Cost

Let’s get straight to the point. If you own a 4-5-year-old Wrangler, a windshield replacement will easily cost you around $900-$1,000. After the 2017 Wrangler, the replacement cost soars, and it is hard to find a repair shop that will provide a windshield replacement for under $1,100.

Before moving on to the actual prices in various locations, I would like to point out that the general maintenance cost of Jeep Wrangler, especially models that came out in the last five years, is higher than the rest of the SUV models in the US. With that in mind, don’t let the following prices shock you.

2019 – 2021 Jeep Wrangler

My research indicated that replacing the windshield of your 2019-2020 Jeep Wrangler is going to cost you a little over $1000.

The newest Jeep Wrangler models are famous for their performance in colder climates and improved safety technology. The windshield plays a vital role in keeping you warm and cozy in extreme temperatures, hence why the price for replacing it is that high.

Pennsylvania is where I recorded the lowest windshield replacement cost – $1000. In states like Oregon and Georgia, the price was around $1200.

2018 Jeep Wrangler

The average price of a windshield replacement for the 2018 Jeep Wrangler is nearly the same as the newer models – a little over $1000.

Not many safety technologies were introduced in the more recent models (2019 – 2021), explaining the similar cost. However, in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania, you can get a new windshield for just $900, whereas in most other cities, the price is over $1,000.

2015 – 2017 Jeep Wrangler

The average price for replacing the windshield of your 2015-2017 Wrangler is around $700. This is where my research draws a significant line. The noticeable drop in costs associated with windshield replacement is due to, naturally, older (and certainly not that sophisticated) windshield technology.

Now the replacement cost is all the same for most of the locations that participated in my research, with comparatively lower prices in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania.

2014 Jeep Wrangler

The windshield replacement cost of the 2014 Wrangler across the US averages around $700.

I was pleasantly surprised with an auto shop located in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania – they can get the windshield of your 2014 Wrangler replaced for $250. That’s quite a good deal.

2012 – 2013 Jeep Wrangler

If you own a 2012-2013 Jeep Wrangler, on average, it’s going to cost you around $300 to replace its windshield.

It sounds quite affordable, compared to newer models but don’t be surprised; after all, the difference is, well, ten years. Pennsylvania, again, is where my research led me to the lowest cost – you can replace the windshield of your 2012-2013 Wrangler for around $250.

Conclusion

I shouldn’t even be saying this but I will, nonetheless. Driving with a large crack on your windshield is dangerous. It’s unsafe for you, and it’s unsafe for the people that ride with you. Not to mention that it’s also illegal to drive with a broken windshield.

So, should you happen to get a nasty crack on your Jeep Wrangler, the responsible thing to do is to replace your windshield. Now, I understand that a complete replacement may be a little pricey, but better be safe than sorry.

Ultimately, on average, you have to set aside $700-$800 for replacing the windshield of your Jeep Wrangler. I sincerely hope that this article will assist you with budgeting and getting a better understanding of why prices vary.
