Nissan Altima Windshield Replacement Cost

When you talk about popular midsize sedans available in the U.S., the Nissan Altima will, of course, take one of the top positions. With its impressive fuel economy and ample luxury feature even at an affordable price point, it has been one of the best-selling vehicles since it started manufacturing thirty years ago in 1992.

Altima is mainly popular due to its durability, estimated to last around 15 to 20 years! As impressive as it sounds, that doesn’t mean that every part of the vehicle will last long. Especially if a random flying rock ruins your road trip and leaves you with a nasty crack on your windshield.

If you happen to be stuck with a crack over 6” long, you have to replace your windshield. To help my fellow Nissan Altima drivers with budgeting and understanding all the various factors that can affect the final cost of windshield replacement, I did a little research. I called multiple auto shops in locations all over the US to request a windshield replacement quote. As expected, there were price variations based on state and, of course, model generation. Jump right into the model you own to get a better idea of how much money the service will cost you. Take into consideration labor costs, auto shop, and insurance. More on that coming.

Windshield Replacement Cost – Factors

To know the windshield replacement cost of your vehicle, you can visit an auto repair shop’s website and check the price for your specific model. However, it’s safe to say that the mentioned price is a rough estimate for your vehicle model. To know the actual cost, the repair shop has to evaluate the damage done to the windshield in person. After that, they can provide you with the actual final price.

To understand the costs of windshield replacement before going to the auto shop, you have to comprehend the different factors affecting it. Here’s a brief overview of the major ones:

  • Repair Shop Location: From my experience in researching windshield replacement costs for other vehicles, I can confidently say that the location is one of the two chief factors determining the price. Usually, eastern states have a higher cost of windshield replacement.
  • Model Year of The Vehicle: The other top factor affecting the cost of a windshield replacement is the vehicle’s production year. Generally, older models have fewer features and less-advanced safety technology embedded in the windshield. Thus, the cost for them is also lower.
  • Insurance Coverage: Depending on the type of your insurance coverage, you may be able to get a new windshield without spending any money. But keep in mind that frequently using your insurance on maintenance will increase your insurance rates.
  • Windshield Type: Whether you want an OEM or aftermarket windshield, the price range will differ for each type. OEM windshield has a higher price and also better quality. Aftermarket windshields are more affordable but not as good as the OEM ones.
  • Autoshop Chain: Depending on the auto shop company, whether it is a local or countrywide business, the price will also vary. Local businesses will provide a lower price. But countrywide, businesses will offer a consistent price across the U.S.
  • Labor Costs: Usually, the labor cost for windshield replacement ranges between $200 – $250. But this may also vary if you opt for a mobile windshield replacement. Labor cost for in-store windshield replacement is considerably cheaper.

By the way, I have a more detailed description of the factors affecting windshield replacement prices in my other article, so feel free to explore if you need additional information.

Nissan Altima Windshield Replacement Cost

The base price of the Altima windshield (58” L x 27.5” W) is around $200 to $500. Depending on the model year and how technologically advanced the windshield is, additional costs might be related to sensors, adhesive, and calibration. With that in mind, the average cost might jump from $300 to $700.

Below are my findings – windshield replacement prices for different model years of the Altima, auto repair shops, names, and locations. What stood out to me was that in southern states like Texas, the price was more affordable than in eastern states like Massachusetts or NY.

2018 – 2020 Nissan Altima

From what I have gathered, the average price for the 2018 to 2020 models of Altima is around $700.

You can expect the lowest price in Dallas, Texas – $480. The highest price is, of course, in one of the eastern states, Massachusetts. Most of the eastern states I have mentioned in this list have prices over $800. However, Windshield Hub in New York City will charge you around $500 for replacing your windshield.

Over the year, Nissan introduced many features to improve the driving experience in the Altima. It is currently in the sixth generation production and is offered with five different trim levels. The latest generation means upgraded technological features hence higher windshield replacement costs.

2015 – 2017 Nissan Altima

The average price of windshield replacement cost for 2015 to 2017 Nissan Altima models is around $500. Like before, auto shops in eastern states had the highest prices for the service – over $700. The cost in New York City and Dallas, Texas, is a little more affordable at around $325.

Altima produced in 2015, 2016, and 2017 falls under the fifth-generation model, and in 2016, Altima received a facelift that upgraded bumpers and head and tail lamps. Some other interior upgrades were also introduced. However, there were no upgrades related to the windshield. Thus, there is a price difference with the later sixth-generation models of Altima.

2014 Nissan Altima

According to my research, the average windshield replacement price for the 2014 model of Nissan Altima is around $400.

Naturally, the further we go back in time, the more prices become affordable. That’s directly related to less advanced windshield technology used in the 2014 model. Still, auto shops in eastern states like Massachusetts offer higher prices at around $700.

2011 – 2012 Nissan Altima

The average price for replacing the windshield of your 2011-2012 Nissan Altima is still around $350 – $400 across the U.S. The minimum cost is $270.80, which is in Dallas, Texas.

Although there is a generation difference between the 2011 – 2012 models and the 2014 model of Altima, the is no substantial price difference for windshield replacement. One noteworthy thing is that the previous high price in Chicopee, Massachusetts, is reduced to $579 for the 2011 and 2012 models.

2008 Nissan Altima

The average price is $350 which is a much more affordable amount compared to the latest generation models. My research also showed me that the highest price you will come across is still in Chicopee, Massachusetts.

The windshield replacement prices for the 2008 model of Nissan Altima are almost the same as the prices for the 2011-2012 models. There may be a subtle decrease in costs for some cities, but it is practically negligible.

Conclusion

In summary, the windshield replacement cost for Nissan Altima is in the low to medium price range compared to other midsize sedans. The lowest price is for older models of Nissan Altima in Dallas, Texas.

Prices for all of the Nissan Altima models I researched seem to be most affordable in Dallas, Texas. Thus, unless you own the newest models of Nissan Altima, expect a replacement cost of around $400. You may have to add some amount of money due to varying labor costs.

I hope that the data I gathered will help you grasp the expected cost before going for a windshield replacement. Remember that damage due to a crack may worsen as time passes, even if you left your vehicle in your garage. So, don’t hesitate and replace your windshield as soon as possible.
